VSA Virtual Reality Simulator

VSA VR Sim Dwg1 1At the request of VSA Club Presidents, the committee of the VSA have commissioned Tom Wilksch in Adelaide to build a portable glider training simulator for use by students and Instructors from Victorian country clubs who cannot easily travel to the existing training simulator at GCV, Benalla.  This new simulator will utilise Virtual Reality technology and be mounted on a compact, purpose-built trailer for convenient transportation between clubs.

Tom Wilksch built the original GFA portable simulator which has been owned and operated by the VSA for some years, principally as a marketing tool at air shows and other public displays. Tom has also built a number of other simulators including the 'Soarability' unit for disabled pilots in West Australia.

The VR Simulator was delivered in late March and is presently at Benalla being evaluated by GCV Instructors who are familiar with simulator training.  The quality of the graphics is very impressive and allows full vision all around the sky

Roger Krueger, Melbourne GC has taken on the role of managing and developing the simulator for use as a pilot training tool and for appearancesat club publicity events.

Once Roger has developed a guide to the effectiv use of the VR simulator he will be advising clubs as to it’s availability.
